Clearwater River Rush Jet Boat Races
June 14 - June 16
Clearwater River Rush Jet Boat Race set for this weekend.
The Clearwater River Rush Jet Boat Race is set for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The three-day event promises to bring excitement to the area, for the racers and spectators alike. The race is being organized by father and son, Dale and Chris Barger, of Orofino, and Adam Steffes, of Lewiston and formerly of Orofino, all three jet boat racers themselves.
The event will kick-off Friday evening, June 14, with a boat show on Johnson Avenue from 6 to 8 p.m. You’ll be able to meet the drivers of the race boats, along with the navigators, and also check out the boats that will be participating in the race. T-shirts will be available.
The races start Saturday, June 15, beginning with the first leg of the race starting at 10 a.m., from Ahsahka Beach to Greer Beach, and racing back from Greer Beach to Ahsahka Beach at 10;45 a.m.
The racers will break for lunch at 12 noon, and then continue with the races from Ahsahka Beach to Greer Beach at 1 p.m., and returning to Greer Beach at 1:45 p.m., with an additional race with the same route at 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
On Sunday, June 16, racing will start with the Ahsahka Beach to Greer Beach route at 10 a.m., with races to follow the same route as Saturday, every 45 minutes.
Times may change if there are more boats than expected participating in the event. Spectators are requested to stand at least 50 feet away from the water’s edge for their safety during the races.
An awards banquet will be held at the Orofino VFW Building at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
