The Orofino region serves as the business, transportation, medical, industrial and cultural hub of Clearwater County, an area that comprises a population of more than 8700 people.
Our region is located on the west side of Idaho, 45 miles east of the Washington state line and 100 miles south of the Canadian border. The city is served by US 12, a two-lane undivided highway on the south bank of the Clearwater River, connected to Orofino by a bridge. The highway connects to Lewiston to the west and Missoula, Montana (over Lolo Pass) to the east. The route is known as the "Northwest Passage Scenic Byway," a National Scenic Byway.[11]
Our K-12 schools and nearby colleges and universities reflect the region’s solid commitment to education. Significant transportation and communication assets position the region for sustained growth and development.
