Join Us May 31st, 2014 For "The Best Dam Race In Idaho"
“Runners Welcome!”Orofino Chamber Of Commerce Director, Kim S-Browning is referring to “The Maniac, The Best Dam Race in Idaho” on May 31st runners by the Dworshak Reservoir in Orofino, Idaho. This exciting event boasts a non-traditional run/walk designed to appeal to every age. This just might be one of the best ways to enjoy views of the Dworshak Reservoir and Clearwater River.
While the fishermen trying to get to the boat docks at Bruce’s Eddy might be a bit frustrated, it’s all for a good cause – a couple of them, actually. “The Maniac” race is a popular 3K or 5K run walk, and not just because of its long open flat course, with access to the views of Dworshak Reservoir and Clearwater River.
It’s also because the organization that benefits from it is one that works directly towards improving the Orofino community and its businesses. The Orofino Chamber of Commerce is excited to be able to organize and run this healthy community event. Not to mention, the town’s hotels and restaurants, especially those with plenty of carbohydrates on the menu, will do a brisk business.
“Overall, the race/walk is good for Orofino’s economy while providing citizens with unique view of the Reservoir. It's a chance to show off Orofino’s hospitality. We want to keep this race going and coming back year after year, it’s only going to get bigger!” says Browning.
