A huge thank you to everyone in Orofino who worked on “Lighting Up” Orofino and creating a wonderful Christmas atmosphere.

Kelly Kircher and Jason Meyer from Krystal Café, Mike Thomas and Mike Cook from Avista, Orofino Body Shop, Mr. Emigh’s OJSH shop class, Boyd Brookshier and Quenton Cook have spent many hours updating 12 more of our wreaths.  This year they added snowflakes which were made by Mr. Emigh’s OJSH shop class and stars which are an original by Kelly Kircher.

Cannon Park was lit by P1FCU and the Community Christmas Tree in Cannon Park was decorated by Clearwater Power and Avista.  Last year the community started decorating Orofino Park and this year it really took off.  Originally there was a sign-up sheet for businesses and individuals to pick a building or tree to decorate. From there it exploded! The Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics did a wonderful job on the trees along Michigan; Toby Atkinson & Edison lit up the gazebo for Santa; US Bank, Clearwater Cabin Rental and Goffinet & Clack decorated 2 trees; MC Concepts decorated the trees by the Rotary booth; State Farm Insurance decorated the bingo booth; US Bank, Boyd Brookshier, Avista and Orofino Flower Shop refurbished and hung the swag and wreath; Cheryl & Bart Jones and Quenton Cook refurbished and hung the Merry Christmas sign; and Stevie Curry put together a crew to light the trees along the river bank. To round out the community decorating, the Chamber tackled the Heritage Plaza; and this year Dennis and Jarek Browning pitched in to help with the Plaza too.

“Lighting Up” Orofino truly has taken the help of the whole community! The Orofino Chamber and a grant from Dworshak Recreation have paid to replace and add to the displays. Funds raised during the Christmas Festival are earmarked for Christmas lighting and the festival. This year, Avery, Orofino’s Elf on the Shelf, is raising funds for the Christmas Festival as she moves from business to business each day. The lights and decorations are so wonderful this year everyone is ready to expand next year, so the Orofino Chamber of Commerce would appreciate monetary donations to fund next year’s projects. If you are able to donate, please contact the Orofino Chamber of Commerce at 208-476-4335 or the mailing address is Po Box 2346, Orofino, ID.

The Orofino Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone for the many hours it has taken to “Light up” Orofino! As you drive around our town, there are many businesses and individuals who have put in many hours to light up the rest of our community. Be sure to get out and enjoy the sights this Christmas season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!!!
